Solar Thermal Systems

thermalhouse“Heat water for your home using energy from the sun.”

Solar Thermal Systems, also known as solar water heating systems, use heat from the sun using panels fitted to your roof to heat water for use around the home. A conventional boiler or immersion heater can be used to make the water hotter, or to provide hot water when solar energy is unavailable.

There are many benefits in having a Solar Thermal System installed, these include:

  • provide hot water throughout the year: the system works all year round, though you’ll need to heat the water further with a boiler or immersion heater during the winter months.
  • It can cut your bills: sunlight is free, so once you’ve paid for the initial installation your hot water costs will be reduced.
  • It can cut your carbon footprint: solar hot water is a green, renewable heating system and can reduce your carbon dioxide emissions.
  • The maintenance costs are very low: most solar water heating systems come with a 5-10 year warranty and require little maintenance.
  • In England, planning permission for most solar water installations is no longer needed – and governments in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are currently discussing introducing similar initiatives.
  • Currently a £300 grant is available through the Renewable Heat Incentive Premium Payment.

We work closely in partnership with our preferred suppliers to properly survey and advise on the best, renewable energy system for your situation. This may be an air or ground heat pump, solar PV, or solar thermal or a combination of all of them.

We will explain to you the costs involved but more importantly the excellent returns you can receive through fuel savings and of course the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive!
